Helping New Mothers Find Their Voice Through Community | Stacy Seigel | TEDxLeonardtown

As a local doula and yoga instructor, Stacy recognized a need for new to have a community that supports and accepts them through the journey of motherhood. The combination of being a doula and yogi provides a holistic birthing experience for those she guides through motherhood and connects them to each other in what she refers to as “Stacy’s Tribe” While raising her two sons as a single mom, Stacy realized there was very little support for women through birth and motherhood. She saw a  shift in parenting, away from the “it takes a village” mentality, and wanted to change that. This is when her passion for working in the birth community truly emerged.

Stacy has guided more than 200 families through the birth of their children. By helping mothers find their voice and speak their truth and encouraging father’s to be present in the birth process, her love of all things birth has grown. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Black and white photo of a smiling woman's mouth

Do you want to know something fascinating?

Even though there are drastic differences between human cultures and the way we express ourselves, psychologist Paul Ekman discovered that facial expressions have a degree of universality that transcends time and place.

Each of these thousands of ways of moving the muscles in our faces, serve to express and reinforce one of the six basic emotions: anger, disgust, enjoyment, fear, sadness, and surprise.

And the most powerful and profound facial expression of them all?

The smile.

Smiling is universally considered to be a way we display joy. It can communicate our internal world to people on the outside, and it can be a welcoming sign to new people. In some cultures, such as parts of Asia and the former Soviet Union, in some contexts, smiling is considered dishonest.

Whatever the case, our muscles can send feedback to our faces and help to boost our mood. Which is why we’ve created this post to boost your mood and bring a few more smiles to your day.

Soulmate Quotes

Soulmate Quotes

A man and woman as soulmates embracing on a beach at sunrise

Have you ever met somebody who you felt like you could spend eternity with — or maybe already have? The idea of finding a soulmate is a common concept all around the world, though everybody has different ideas what that might mean.

Quotes about soulmates reveal that to some, the concept is a literal, metaphysical one. Some people believe that a soul mate is someone they knew in another lifetime, or in many lifetimes. To others, the idea is more metaphorical. It represents a special person whom one can connect with on a spiritual level.

To some, soulmates are “twin flames” who reflect our own true natures. To others, they are simply those who deserve the very best from us. They can be romantic partners, best friends, or even just wonderful people who pass through one’s life and make a genuine difference.

Reading these quotes on soulmates will give you perspective on different ideas of love and will make you think about your own relationships and what you want from them. They will also make you think about your own actions and choices and what you  bring to your relationships.

“She lives her life like a flame; a dance of purposeful chaos.… Her enchanting light can guide you and quell your fears… She’s hot; warming those who respect her and burning those who don’t… She is a flame with an unforgettable glow… A weak man will try to dim her luminance… but her soul mate will take pleasure in fanning the blaze.” – Steve Mariboli

About Me:
I was brought up in the US from a young age although originally from London. Having moved around a lot, finding the right direction and what I wanted to achieve in life was tough. Things changed when I moved back to London and joined a gym. From there I slowly started to learn and tried new things by observing others. I’ve always been inspired by people in good shape, so I finally decided that is what I wanted to focus on. I still train in the same gym I walked into as a 9 stone guy in 2008.
