Helping Your Community Through Volunteering

Colin’s story is a humorous look into what it takes to become a volunteer.

Colin Steele created this video through our SharedTime Initiative, a collaborative project between the Centre for Digital Storytelling Canada and Volunteer Toronto.

Colin volunteers at one of the local food banks. His “duties” include unloading the truck, picking up donations of food from many places and helping with the cooking. He is just a normal guy, armed with a smile, who feels good helping.

Organization Summary: As the hub of the food bank community in Toronto, Daily Bread supports approximately 170 member agencies in running different kinds of food relief programs. Our agencies run neighbourhood food banks where people come to access food hampers, as well as meal programs where people can access prepared meals such as soups or casseroles.
